We need your help and support for clothing, school fees, textbooks and food. Thank you in advance for lending a helping hand!
On Wednesday, September 4, 2013 we made a trip to Erin Ijesha Waterfall in Osun State, which is about 2 hours away. The waterfall has seven levels that you can climb up and there is a village that lives at the top. After a hard climb, we made it all the way to the top! We all had a lot of fun and enjoyed going in the water.
On Tuesday, September 3, 2013, the children and volunteers went to visit the Zoological Garden at the University of Ibadan. We had a great time there and saw many animals!
Here are a few more pictures from our summer camp!
This year’s Children Summer Camp brought together about 260 participants from various walks of life. The event was held on the grounds of S.S. Peter and Paul Major Seminary in Bodija, Ibadan from August 27th-29th, 2013. We had special speakers, a Gospel message, dancing competition, a talent show, swimming , games and more. Some of the games that we had were a 3-legged race, sack race, table tennis, water games, volleyball, trampoline, bouncy castle and parachute. Not only did the children have a lot of fun, but so did the adults. We had a 3-legged race and sack race for some of the caregivers and volunteers. It was a lot of fun. There was also some running races with the adults, and the children had fun cheering them on.
In attendance was the Commissioner of Information, Honourable Taiwo Otegbeye, members of the medical team of University College Hospital, Ibadan and some other dignitaries. Everyone enjoyed the water fights we had and most people were soaked! The water gun fights was the highlight of the games. Individuals were chased around, dunked in the swimming pool. Everyone in attendance enjoyed a daily snack pack, drinks and a hot meal. Almost everyone was wet but with a lot of fun. We would like to say a special thank you to all those that donated (financial or food) to this year’s camp –S.S. Peter and Paul Seminary for allowing us to use their venue for free, MTN Nigeria for their cash donation, Makers of Indomie for providing us with lunch for all on the first day of the camp, Farm Support, Zartech, Sumal Foods, Sweet Co, Nigeria Breweries for providing all the soft drinks we used for the three day event, Rite Food, Coca-Cola, Feyisetan Printing Press for their cash donation. We would also like to say thank you to all the volunteers both international and local. This year’s event was the best and with the most fun. Thank you for helping us put smiles on the faces of the less privileged children. Finally, we thank God Almighty for making the event a success and accident free.
